The Oak Park Football and Cricket Clubs are key sporting and social hubs for the local community. The installation of lighting to meet competition standards, will ensure we are able to utilise the ground more often for competition and practice, boosting participation across the club including female and male, juniors and seniors, footballers and cricketers alike.
This infrastructure is critical for the future survival of our small but important club, which helps to hold our community together.
Having a safe place for our players to train and play will make such a difference to our club and the community.
Every kid needs an activity to be a part of. We want footy and cricket to be available to more boys and girls.
Sports are so important for local communities. We have more and more players, but the same facilities. Lights will enable more people to play more often!
Only being able to use the ground during daylight hours (especially for the footballers in winter darkness) significantly reduces how much we can use the grounds and be active. Lights are an important part of our plan to make our club an even more important part of our community.

Oak Park Community Sports Association have been around since 1957. Got their first light pole in 1977 and still have the same pole and lights to this day. The lighting is totally inadequate for even a local club. Better lighting will enhance every aspect of all our sporting athletes....
I have played womens footy for 2 years now and my daughter is also keen to play. We need more grounds and more availibility
100% support it! Good Luck!
As Moreland council is on the mandatory push for clubs to have girls and or womens teams in both football and cricket and for us to be able to provide safe conditions for training in both sports the lighting is a must. As the club expands with the extra participation of more teams we are in desperate need for a lighting upgrade so as to fulfill our ground requirements for our current and expansion of teams. This will also give opportunity for evening games at both junior and senior level.
Children will feel safe with appropriate lighting especially during the winter nights.
The participation levels at OPCSA are increasing dramatically every year. However we are struggling to accommodate the growth due our facilities. Having lights that would allow us to use the whole oval for training and to play matches at night would allow us to provide a better and safer environment for the Oak Park community.
Local sports participation is extremely important to the community. Increasing the hours that the oval is available can only be a positive for the community.
Every sporting community deserves good facilities including lighting. This club has been an integral part of the community for generations, Dont let the next Generation down with cost cutting.
we badly need new lights for our club as the lights we have at the moment are totally inadequate for the footballers and cricketers
Lack of decent lighting means training is shortened during the cold and dark winter months making it feel unsafe for the little ones (girls included) This is must do by the government.
much needed improvement
The rapid increase within the space of girls/women's football the club has been finding it difficult to allocate times to facilitate all games. The EDFL are looking at options and playing midweek under lights is one of them. The community is growing, young families are getting more involved in sport, the new Oak Park Swimming Complex will be completed shortly, it would be great knowing that Oak Park also have a football ground with great lighting to accommodate night footy and to also provide a safe play area for all the junior and senior clubs. Get behind this initiative and vote. Don't think it just do it!
This is a great initiative and will encourage young and old to participate in sport, and promote people to take up active lifetyle.
Oak Park Sporting Community Association is well overdue for an upgrade to the lights around the ground. Restricts activity once it's dark and limits ground space as parts of the ground are too dark! Great initiative, a lot of people very much hoping this happens soon :)
I am the captain of the oak park football club and we find it extremely difficult to train at night without sufficient lighting. It is crucial to our club that we can have this granted.
This is desperately needed for more kids to train and play in a safe environment!
Definantly needed for all training aspects, will be better then straining eye's to see properly.
definitely needed! Training will be easier and possible evening games!!
Much needed
A great community venue, all the best with this initiative!
👍👍👍
Great initiative and good luck!

Upgrading the lights at Oak Park is long overdue, players have to train under the areas where the current light poles are due to lack of light output, therefore all the traffic is concentrated into the same areas and churning up the same parts of the oval. On junior training nights all the teams from Auskick and up have to compete for space for this same reason, a lighting upgrade will allow participants maximise usage of the whole ground.
