Numurkah inclusive cycling program

What: The program will provide three rickshaw style bikes piloted to by a group of community volunteers to provide a cycling experience to community members who otherwise do not get to experience this simple joy. Passengers will be taken on paths and streets around the township.

Who: Passengers - Numurkah residents who due to age, ill health or disability can not ride a bicycle.

Pilots: the trikes will be piloted by a team of volunteer riders from the Numurkah community.

Support: Initial enthusiastic support has been obtained from service clubs, sporting clubs, community organisations and individuals.

The project will enable persons with a disability to enjoy an outdoor activity normally denied to them bringing great health benefits especially in the area of mental health. For the riders there will be physical benefits through the exercise as well as the mental health benefits of volunteering.

As a community, we see this project can bring the community together to create a unique activity for which the township can become known, in turn encouraging community members to be outdoors and active. It will foster community pride and spirit, volunteering, exercise and social cohesion.
