This series of innovative events will connect the communities of Melbourne's north with future trends in employment and education. Our program will start with a series of seminars held in local schools with recognised science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) experts, and culminate in a showcase event during 2019's Science Week - the Northern STEM Expo and Summit.

The Expo will feature stalls, demonstrations, workshops, talks and a Schools Maker Fair: a celebration of invention and curiosity that will see hundreds of local students using STEM to play, make, hack, tinker - and learn from one another.

Our area is one of the fastest growing in Australia, with STEM skills increasingly in demand. A widening gap exists between the north's expanding specialised industries such as biotechnology and advanced manufacturing and the ability of the local workforce to meet these industries' needs.

This free event will bridge the gap, bringing together innovators, industries, parents, students, teachers and the community through TED-style talks, skill enrichment workshops, mentoring from STEM role models - and the Maker Fair.

This project will highlight future career opportunities as well as share and celebrate the tremendous STEM work taking place across the northern region.
