Nhill Big Green Re Use Shed

It is my project to construct a Big Green Shed at the Nhill Waste Collection Centre to collect usable items of furniture, household essentials and non-electrical household goods, which were destined for the Landfill. This will enable residents who are less fortunate than others to furnish their homes without the normal costs involved in buying household items. Any donations collected (this would be voluntary) would go to re-greening the filled tip area with trees. The Water Tanks on the shed would help water these trees. This project helps the environment, our residents and our community.

Furniture and other used household goods, which would normally end up in landfill, will be inspected, saved and given (or sold for a donation) to needy members of the community. Our Tip Custodian already saves some items, but due to no storage facility, they are left outside in the elements. A Big Green Shed would save many more items from landfill and assist those in need to obtain good clean used furniture for little or no cost. Any funds obtained would purchase trees to re-green the filled tip area, watered by the collected rain in the tanks.
