Newport Station Urban Art Fence Project

The current rusted old fencing at Newport station is an eyesore. The project will have a sound proof fence built in front of the current fence and then a competition will be run for urban art to be painted on the fence. (If council approved). A small road will need to be closed for the artists to paint their works and a community festival will be held with food trucks and music, so people can come down and watch the artists at work.

The current rusted fence is a serious eyesore which makes the whole area feel very rundown. There is a lovely set of shops along Hall St with original architecture and a new fence with urban art murals along it would bring the whole area alive. It would block out some of the very loud train noise that affects the area because industrial trains going to and from Geelong go along that line.

The community would benefit immensely from having their local shopping strip looking like a part of New York rather than the current ugly eyesore that exists.
