Hi John,
My name is Murray and I am applying for the "Newport Station Urban Art Fence Project". I think we could increase our chances of success if we work together to get as many votes as possible. I am happy to print up flyers with your project on it for example and get out there and promote both of our projects. If we can agree on a third project we both like and we can get them on board we could all promote each others in our voting instructions and our chance of getting across the line would be much better. Write a comment on my project if you'd like to discuss collaborating or contact me at murraypeterdawes@gmail.com. Cheers and good luck.

The Pakiteer initiative is managed by PTV and administered by Bicycle Network. Newport Station has one Parkiteer cage holding 26 bicycles but its popularity has dictated the need for another. Currently, cyclists unable to use the Parkiteer secure their bicycles on pavements around the station creating inconvenience and untidiness. Parkiteers have code-controlled access, are low cost, low risk, low maintenance, low vandalism. Further overflow arrangements would be provided by co-located cycle hoops, offering greater security and neater than bicycles left on pavements. All aspects of the project would be erected on PTV land.
As can be demonstrated, Parkiteers offer an all-win opportunity for the community:
Current cyclists would be offered secure parking,
The facility would encourage more commuters to move from car to cycle,
This reduction releases more car parking spaces,
Fewer cycles on trains means less disruption for commuters,
Pedestrians would be eased of the inconvenience and unsightliness of bicycles blocking pavements.
Furthermore, there would be economies of scale advantages. A 26 space Parkiteer costs less than 5 car park spaces; releasing funds. Cycling reduces congestion and pollution and an active lifestyle further reduces demands (costs and time) on the health service.

As a regular user of the parkiteer, there is a definite need for a new / bigger facility
Where would you locate the additional cage?

Great stuff John, this is sorely needed, the cage is full even in winter.
