Newman Square Redevelopment

To develop a multi-purpose presentation area within the south-east corner of Newman Square, complete with shade sails, proper lighting and access to three phase power. It will include ramp access for equipment and people with disabilities. The re-orientation of the performance area will enable performers to project their voices across the entire park. It's also planned to erect two mosaic art columns featuring Lions to celebrate the centenary of Lions (funded by our club). The development will include the removal of the grassy knoll in the centre of the park and re-turfing the area.

Newman Square is in the main street of Numurkah, it is used by the entire community throughout the year for events such as the Australia Day breakfast, community launches and the Christmas Carols. The Lions Club want to develop a purpose-built entertainment area as the current layout of the park is restricting the growth of the Carols. This last year we had to bring in a portable stage to support the participants. The current rotunda has become too small. The rotunda faces due west and the setting sun makes it difficult for the musicians and singers to see.
