Moriac community wish for a new basket swing at their playground behind the Moriac Community Centre to help be more inclusive for all the children to be able to play and access this new equipment. This playground is now over 10 years old and the community would greatly benefit with a new piece of equipment.
There are several families in the area with disabled children or autistic adults who would greatly benefit from this type of inclusive basket swing.
The local Moriac Community Network have been fundraising towards the costs and will seek the local Bendigo Bank to match funds.
Many parts of the community would use a basket swing capable of holding a child with their adult carer or up to four children.
- some families live very close with disabled children and need better wheelchair access to swings
- Moriac playgroup, kindergarten and primary school children use the playground
- Teenagers use the skatepark next to the playground and would enjoy this equipment too.
- adult Gen U clients visit this playground
- tourists stop along the Great Ocean Road Cape Otway Road route for a break
- Moriac playgroup meet at the community centre weekly
