The Lorne Historical Society curates a collection of images, memorabilia and artefacts of which many items are of National and State significance. The collection is a valuable resource which is now digitised and catalogued. The Society now stages themed exhibitions on aspects of Lorne's history; fishing, timber, Great Ocean Road etc. We are attracting significant numbers of visitors and the exterior requires updating to promote and identify this key asset of Lorne. The current exterior is drab and leaves a poor visual impression at the entrance to Lorne.
The Lorne Historical Society building is one of the first buildings seen by people entering the main street of the village. The proposed upgrade to the facade will make the Society's rooms more visible and recognisable. This will attract more visitors, ensuring the sustainability of the Society and building a sense of pride and connection with the work of the volunteers of the Society. It is proposed that part of the facade with comprise historical images etched onto panels. This will be a constant reminder to our community of the heritage of our town.

I strongly support this project. I believe it’s important to the local community.
This building is currently an eyesore storing and displaying a host of fantastic items relating to Lorne's fascinating history. It is in a most prominent position and needs steps up from the footpath and big, brave tasteful signage to lead locals and tourists to view our story.
The current structure of the LHS makes it difficult to see. The new entrance will greatly enhance visitation and the function of this important community society.
The history of lorne is important to both the people of lorne as well as the visitors from elsewhere.
I give my full support to this project.

Important gateway location to Lorne needs to be improved to reflect its location plus the importance of the extensive and diverse long history of Lorne.
An extremely important link with the past.
Our town’s wonderful history needs to be preserved for future generations and presented in the best possible way.
I support this project as the history of Lorne is important to the community.
The Lorne Historical Society does a wonderful job of preserving the history of our area.
Terrific idea! I support the project which will be of value to many future generations and visitors to Lorne.
One of the greatest legacies of Lorne are the people and experiences that have come before us and we are so lucky to have those recorded by the Lorne Historical Society through the tireless ongoing endeavors of their volunteers. This project supports of all this and more as it also formalizes a current "drab entry" to a "vibrant gateway" marking where the Great Ocean Road becomes Mountjoy Parade
I support this project. Lorne’s history is an integral education to the future generations.
The new facade will draw attention to the building and create more foot traffic for the dedicated volunteers who give up their own time to keep the history and stories of Lorne alive.
I support the project as providing access to our history is important for all in our community.
I support the view that the current facade is drab and leaves a poor visual impression. The proposed bay windows facing Mountjoy Pde will provide an opportunity to promote Lorne’s heritage values 24/7.
