Centrally located to the region in Shepparton, Deakin Reserve hosts major football and netballs groups including the finals of the Goulburn Valley Football Netball League.
As such, the venue would also ideally provide the best facilities in the area for both football and netball.
Unfortunately the netball court is the only court in the area that does not currently have any shelter at all for the players, coaches and officials to enable cover from inclement weather.
It is proposed through this project that such a shelter can be added to the court area and enhance the experience for everyone.
The Deakin Reserve netball court is used by a range of groups including:
- The Goulburn Valley Football Netball League which is the premier competition in the region
-Net Set Go junior development programs for young players
-School Groups
-Other local fitness groups
The greater Shepparton City Council, the GVFNL and organisations using the venue also strongly promote broad access to the facilities for players, parents, officials and spectators including people with additional needs or in wheelchairs.
Improved shelters at the facility will help to ensure a more enjoyable day for participants in both inclement weather or hot conditions.

Holding an umbrella over the players sitting on the bench to protect them from the elements shouldn't be required. Future opportunities for major events to come to the area require first class facilities, growing our brand and city requires funding, I look forward to seeing the development of the shelters and future works at Deakin.
