As a rural town with a higher than average low socio-economic population, reliant on tourism and some farming, we’re not ready for the challenges coming from an AI-led, sustainable 21st century economy.
We need to provide jobs for young people and others. In this first discreet stage, we’ll gather a panel of Australian business/scientific/agricultural creative thinking experts, to work with a large diverse, cross-community working group.
We’ll plan, implement and transition our growing town so we can be a just community and equitable economy, which is resilient and takes advantage of the changing world.

Working with a very large and diverse community working group, these experts in their field will assist us to develop our thinking - and later planning processes - that's best practice, inclusive and democratic. And informed by the latest research in and experience of, innovation in rural towns. As a unique opportunity it will build capacity of the diverse sections, groups, businesses and agencies in the town to develop collaboratively a long-term plan that's flexible and sustainable. Essentially, by being present in the town for a fixed period consulting, communicating and working alongside locals, then providing support remotely.
