Mumma Bears Australia (Supporting mums)

Mumma Bears is a not-for-profit community group which supports mums with little or no family around.
Through information received on a participants' survey, we match an older mum one on one with a younger mum for friendship, emotional support and advice.
With financial assistance we can grow our organisation to meet continuous enquiries, by advertising for more volunteers (Mumma Bears), continuing to cover public liability and general administrative costs such as phone, postage, internet.

Since our inception 2 & 1/2 years ago, we have matched around 100 people, received enquiries from interstate as well as government agencies and organisations such as Frankston Hospital, Child Protection, private counsellors and Anglicare.
We are fulfilling a need in the community by being able to establish a relationship that can go beyond professional boundaries and do things like meet for coffee, go shopping, babysit, help with shopping and just be a friend and confidante.
For many of our members they have lost their parents, moved away or are estranged from their mother. We are making connections.
