The aim of this project is to organise a multicultural event in Wyndham to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha, an important Muslim-festival. Approximately 9,000 people with different cultures and backgrounds living in Victoria are expected to attend this annual event. The project aims to create a better understanding among local communities, helping create a cohesive society. We aim to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha, an important Muslim festival, to remember the willingness of Prophet Abraham to follow Allah's (God's) command to sacrifice his son Ishmael. This festival is celebrated all over the world by many communities and nationalities, representing sacrifice and tolerance.
The vision of the Organisation is: to strengthen and create a better understanding among communities about diverse cultures of the Muslim communities - belonging to various countries living in Australia, integrating into the multi-cultural fabric of Australia.
Objectives include:
• Developing cultural engagement and involvement with the collaboration of various community groups, by organising one of the biggest events in Wyndham Council.
• Achieving community cohesion through the collaboration of local, state and federal governments, political representatives, public and private sector organisations and around 20 community organisations.
• Strengthening and enhancing an understanding among different cultures living in Victoria.
