Our project aims to create something absolutely new, a prototype, blending applied science with ‘amusement arcade’ simulation. It follows research highlighting growth dependent on market attractions: Main Street shopfronts, the Steam Train, Mt Tarrengower look-out, and Carmen’s tunnel. We now add the Mt Tarrengower Historic Hill Climb, dating from 1927.
The prototype will provide information in ways that capture the imagination, and enhance learning experiences. It allows for exploration of stories, approachable as life-size or precision-scaled exhibits, video or still photographic materials
The ultimate goal is to create a new facility that will grow to provide jobs within the region.
The selection of stories most suitable for display will relate to the needs of youth, under-employed, and unemployed persons, and discouraged job seekers within the shire. That focus will reinforce wider positive expectations, attitudes and behavioural intentions.
Within an increasingly positive outlook, we expect our targeted ‘youth’ population (and those regardless of age, gender and ethnic background) to become more resilient and less likely to be ‘put-off’ or dissuaded from seeking new opportunities.
We confidently expect to attract strong visitor interest, particularly amongst motorsport enthusiasts, with a consequent increase in commercial activity within towns under the shadow of Mt Tarrengower.
