The Rosebud, Hastings and Mornington Toy Libraries will run a series of Pop Up Play Experiences across the Mornington Peninsula. These events will be free and open to preschool and primary aged children and their families. Each play experience will be unique and will encourage children and their carers to engage in play together. It will foster a sense of community and encourage everyone to be more playful.
The program includes giant box craft, messy play, science fun, baby play and a BIG PLAY for World Play Day. Events will be held throughout the Peninsula allowing more communities to play.

Play helps children develop language and reasoning skills, encourages autonomous thinking and problem solving. Play also aids children to learn discovery and develop verbal and manipulative skills, judgment and reasoning and creativity.
In a time when we are all living more sedentary lifestyles, children sometimes need their play to be facilitated through providing opportunities and events that encourage play, such as pop up play experiences. Adults also benefit from experiences that help them be playful and reengage with their children. Events such as this build a sense of community and well-being while teaching new ways to play.
