The project will recognise all the local soldiers and nurses from WW2, Vietnam, Korea, Iraq, Timor and Afghan wars that have defended Australia. Currently the Mooroopna War Memorial only includes names of WW1 veterans and the contribution of local indigenous people to the defence of Australia is absent.
The memorial site will be extended and panels of digi glass will be erected with inscriptions of all war veterans. Lighting will be installed and new pathways will be created, enhancing the ambience of the space and allowing for the memorial site to be accessible and safe for all users.
Mooroopna is a diverse community and is home to many war veterans and ancestors of people who fought at war. Our local community will benefit by having recognition of all local veterans and nurses included at the memorial. All local veterans and nurses deserve to be remembered and this will increase pride and honour within the local community and beyond.
Recognising the indigenous veterans and nurses and their sacrifice is an important aspect to the memorial. The memorial is located within the ‘Northern Victoria War Heritage Trail’. Upgrades will allow families, friends and visitors to gather and remember their ancestors.

Congratulations on this initiative that will further enhance the street scape of Mooroopna. Regarding the landscape design and plantings for the project, please consider replacing the 6 Photinia trees that are untidy, and as a weedy tree shed unwanted seed close to the Goulburn river and forest. The current trees are uplifting the gutter and replanting this area with native local trees or other natives such as Lemon scented gums or West Australian flowering gums for example would help improve this project by creating a native backdrop.
Is it possible to see an example of what the memorial walls will look like and what they will be made of?
We wonder where the path leads to from Elizabeth St. and if it connects to anything?
This project will recognise all local soldiers from all conflicts and tourist attraction for our town.
A worthy project. The memorial really does need an upgrade and what a wonderful idea to include all the indigenous soldiers. I would love to see this go ahead in my local area.
A well deserved project and well overdue. We need to remember all our fallen.
I grew up in Mooroopna and now live in Shepparton and this project would be great to see completed.
A wonderful project that has been four years in the making supported by Mooroopna Rotary , Shepparton RSL and the City of Greater Shepparton. The present Memorial is dedicated to World War one Veterans only and it would be great to see veterans of all conflicts recognized in one place in Mooroopna
It is admittedly a great project to respect our fallen. Should also be supported by the Shepparton RSL members
well over due

I support this project full heartly we as a nation need to support our fallen war heroes I urgent the government to support this as number 1 project
I applaud the plans to update our War Memorial to recognise the fallen from the conflicts following WW1 & particularly to include the contribution of our local indigenous people. However, I have some concerns. Firstly, how high is the long plexi-glass wall for WW2, Vietnam, Timor, Afghan, Somalia, Korea & Iraq? If it is more than 1 metre high it will negate the beautiful aspect of the Rotunda as you approach from the west. I want to see a significant memorial to commemorate all who have fallen in the WW2, Korea & Vietnam wars & hope it is also inclusive of our more recent conflicts, but I don't want a new memorial to be at the expense of our beautifully elegant & historical Rotunda. Is there no other positioning for this long wall of commemoration so that it will not block out the view from the west? We are so lucky to have the large amount of garden & lawn areas surrounding the site, surely there is another position for the wall which would be less disruptive to the current layout . I really like the serpentine path that flows from the book ends of the Boer War through to the Nursing Memorial. Perhaps the long wall in question could be repositioned to disect the path on the eastern side or alternately have it curved sinuously across the southern side of the path between the Rotunda & the Nurses Memorial. We have time to get the plan right. Please, let's look at a more befitting option that accommodates all the memorials in their best light.
Thanks for your remarks and thoughts. If you study the plan you will find that none of the "walls" will block or impede the present Memorial but I am sure attract to this magnificent Cenotaph.
A Much needed upgrade for our Memorials , in the GV, to gratify all Men & WOMEN , that gave the ultimate Sacrifice, for our Country. Lest We Forget.

Really needed
This memorial has needed an upgrade for a long time.
A worthy project to remember all the men and women that have fought to keep this country safe.
This is a worthy and wonderful project. The plans are certainly detailed and thoughtful. It will be a place of significance for many people in the district.
