Australian Animal Rescue want to be more than just a band-aid. We want to work towards prevention first and foremost. We want to offer free/low income de-sexing, micro-chipping, vaccinations and other basic vet care for pets of veterans, pensioners, homeless and low income families. The caravan will also allow us to respond to emergency situations such as heat stress, fires, flood etc.
For many people their pets are very much like their children. Sometimes they are part of the family, and sometimes a person's greatest and only companion. Medicine and science have shown owning a pet to be fantastic for depression and other mental health issues. However, we know that not everyone can afford the high vet costs associated with all of a pet's needs; particularly our most vulnerable community members and families, struggling to get on their feet. We want to offer them an option for this and also help work towards reducing the feral cat population.

I work with a lot of low- income people who don't have the funds to see a vet when their pet is ill. A very worthwhile project.
