Mullum Mullum Indigenous Gathering Place is a well known community organisation with skills in art, craft and cultural understanding.

In partnerships with the Basin Community Houses over the last year MMIGP began training and preparation of a social enterprise of Deadly Art, Food & Culture.
As you can see from the image at Belgrave Survival Day 2018 MMIGP has begun strongly. However the set up /pack up is significant for the community in this form.

A purpose built pop up food van would greatly enhance the indigenous cultural presence at community events.

Indigenous presence and participation at local community events is continually asked of the local Aboriginal community by councils, schools and community organisations. Infrastructure and ease of participation is a major barrier.

A highly visible and portable PopUP Indigenous food van selling Bush Tucker including Kangaroo, Emu and Crocodile would create an opportunity for the sharing of indigenous culture and food in the outer east of Melbourne.

Key Outcomes
- Partnership with local business and community organisations to build the caravan
- Education and training of indigenous students
- Creating pathways for further education and employment

It's said that the way to people's hearts is through their stomachs!! This yummy idea is therefore a fantastic way to engage people and create a relaxed but important opportunity for people to meet indigenous people and start to engage with their culture. The van is an innovative approach and could provide a niche approach to address the great need for the community to better respond to indigenous issues.

Yes this will be a fantastic project.

Please remember to vote you need to shortlist 3 projects then vote. I am hearing from MMIGP community of people simply shortlisting the project but not continuing up to the vote bit.

Thanks everyone voting - Keep sharing and voting so it becomes a reality
