Mirboo North Community Op Shop

Community groups need to raise funds to be self-sufficient. Purchasing premises owned by and for our community will secure an income stream for groups, for generations to come. Purchasing an Op shop will reduce rental costs therefore increasing the fundraising dollars. Op shops reduce landfill, provide training opportunities and a social outlet for more vulnerable members of the community. With currently in excess of 60 community groups within the township, all needing funding, each group may have a return of up to $1,500 if they ran the shop for a week.

An Op Shop functions as a community hub allowing the exchange and interaction of ideas and information between community groups and individuals, thereby allowing for further community development, resilience and tourism.
Our Op Shop lifts our community's profile and provides a venue to operate a retail store for sale of recycled items, and could offer a mend and fix service. Training in retail, point of sale, customer service, teamwork and volunteering, as well as social interaction for community members, including those who suffer health issues are a few of the many skills and benefits for volunteers.
