Messages for the Community

This idea advocates the purchase of a Variable Message Sign Board to enable the Police to get a message to the community about a particular issue. eg lock your car to prevent crime, reduce speed reminders around schools, safety info like not locking children or pets in cars in summer, critical incident management, community safety events. This message board can be used around the community to keep people informed, reminded and alert on current issues, as well as some of the Police Crime Prevention Strategies such as Safe Plate Day, Community Safety Month, Operation Road Wise and general Public Information.

The Variable Message Sign boards will be a visual aid to those in the community to provide accurate advice and information targeting the community in location, audience and time. Getting up to date correct information from the Police to help reduce crime, speed, safety will benefit the whole of the local community in a visual way. It will also be a way of informing the community of public events and work with Rotary on community safety, a project sponsored by Rotary in the Glen Waverley area. Rotary and the community will also benefit in advertising upcoming public local events.
