The project will improve and bring lasting change to the Merbein community. It will provide a safe and interesting community walking trail linking areas within Merbein, for school students, tourists and the community to view artworks inspired and created by the community. Informative interactive videos created by the local Merbein P-10 students about each artwork available by QR code on signage will be erected at each artwork. Lighting will be erected to showcase the artworks at night and offer a safe trail for visitors. The track also offers safe access for students walking to and from school each day.
The project will offer the broader community and local students an opportunity to learn new skills with potential to generate jobs while increasing tourism to the local region. Local businesses will also see an increase in trade through visitors and foot traffic. It also offers an opportunity for the community to shape its environment through storytelling with the display of artwork, while also collaborating and relationship building. This project offers an opportunity for the town to become part of the statewide, artwork trail community.

This is a great community building project.. I'm really looking forward to participating in some way and of course the end result. I couldn't think of a better trail than that of the old channel. So many memories there, for so many Merbein residents.
