The objectives of the program are:
- Service coordination inclusive of the development of a care plan that identifies the focus of mentoring and how the school and program will work together (e.g. focus on resilience, learning/tutoring, well-being, building aspirations to break the cycle of disadvantage) to support the young person to achieve their goals
- Provision of an individualised mentoring program for young people who are at risk of disengaging from education
- Regular engagement and support for young people involved in the program
- Increase the engagement and participation in education for participating young people

Young people are our future and nurturing them through their adolescence can contribute to the outlook of our community through the following:

• Creating an inclusive community that fosters personal growth through the sharing of information, skills, attitudes and behaviours,
• Increasing motivation and satisfaction within their community, and
• Enhancing interpersonal skills.

The outcomes of schooling are far broader than simply academic achievements. Schooling equips young people with the skills and knowledge necessary to make better life choices which lead to more productive pathways through adulthood. Disengagement with schooling in formative years has reported associations with high social costs.
