Men on the Move reducing the social Isolation of men

Many men are isolated from their community for many reasons. The Monash men's shed aims to reduce the instance of isolation of men in our community and to foster greater community involvement.

A bus is to be purchased to move men around the community. The bus will allow members with mobility restrictions to access the shed. The bus will also visit retirement villages and aged care centres towing our mobile men's shed. The mobile shed will also enable men to feel included in their community when the shed visits. The bus will also be used for social outings for men.

The Men on the Move project consists of a bus and a mobile shed. The project will allow men isolated in the community to participate in activities when the mobile shed arrives at their facility. The activities will also improve the mental health of many men and their supporters. No one will feel isolated as the bus can take you to your shed or bring the shed to you. Men will be constructing and fitting out the mobile shed as an activity. The mobile shed can also visit schools to demonstrate to children the uses and benefits of tools.
