Generations of Kingston residents have passed through the doors of Mordialloc College and still reside in the Kingston area. The proposed oral history project will interview and record the memories of our older residents focussing on their school recollections and also growing up in the district. Experienced Historians will assist the Mordialloc College Alumni volunteers in recording and transcribing of memories, experiences, perspectives and thoughts of growing up in the boroughs now known as City of Kingston. The outcome will be the basis for a proposed book, contributing to our region's larger historical narrative and our archival resources and assets.

The district has a long and proud history of public education. Schools such as Mordialloc College are amongst the oldest public schools in the region and hold intrinsic ties with the local community. Those who attended the College hold unique experiences and memories of the school and growing up in the Mordialloc-Chelsea region. The proposed oral history will ensure these memories are recorded forever and before they may be lost to time. Interviews are inclusive in that they will overcome the barriers some of our residents face with mobility. The project complements the work already achieved by other historical groups.

An exceptional project which combines oral history with community engagement. This is a project from dedicated and hard-working members of the community. I wish them all success.

This is a brilliant local history project. The more we learn about the people, places and organisations that have helped create our communities the more connected we become. Mordialloc College/"Mordy High" drew people from all over what we now call Kingston and these former students, teachers, and the families connected to the school have contributed in all kinds of interesting ways to the community. There should be more projects like this!
