Construction of a section in the Stratford Cemetery which improves the ecology of the area and gives a reflective space for all visitors to sit or walk. 1200 new native plants will enhance the environment and have connecting paths and seating. The area also incorporates a section which will have a ceramic poppy for each of the WW2 personnel buried at the cemetery. This will be unveiled with a community event on Sunday April 14th next year. 2019 marks the 70th Anniversary since WW2 began, and the RSL and wider community give their full support to this project.
This project, which is open to everyone has the capacity to strengthen community cohesion. In naming the WW2 personnel we find the many connections to organisations and families in the town. This creates a large network of people to come together to honour past citizens and celebrate their contribution to our community. Very few community events encompass such a wide cross section of a town's population and act as a bond between groups. We have already had letters of support for this project.
The long term benefits for Stratford locals and visitors will be the peaceful reflective surroundings it creates.

Wonderful idea to remember those that served.
I will really appreciate the recognition this will give to a family member who served.
A worthwhile project to honour these people.
Would be a wonderful tribute and would contribute to creating a beautiful setting for these veterans.

Good luck, the Cemetery Trust did an awesome job of WW1 garden, and this will be another step in making it an enjoyable calm place to visit.
