The Meerlieu Public Hall committee is applying for a grant to help fund the upgrade of the hall's male, female and disabled toilet facilities which will make it a more modern usable asset for everyone who uses the building. In doing so this would also impact on a current storage room which we intend to relocate to the opposite end of the hall and build a bigger room for use by all user groups (Cricket club, Cfa, Hall, produce group, Meerlieu Madrigals (Singing group) and Meerlieu & District Community Group)

The Meerlieu Hall is one of the most used rural community halls in Victoria and its main user group is the Meerlieu Cricket Club which host local and representative competitions throughout summer. The current toilets were built by the community in the late 70s and don't comply with modern day standards. The disabled toilet doubles as storage when theres no functions on, as theres a lake of storage in the hall. Upgrading the toilets and building a storage room would vastly improve the usability of the hall for all user groups and hall hirers for many years to come.

A wonderful asset to our small yet vibrant community of hard working and community minded peeps - would be made even greater by an upgrade.

Our community is a shining example of locals who work together to create a supporting and friendly town. There are too many groups and individuals to mention but they all use the Hall for meetings, social events, sporting activities education and networking. Our toilets are old and not practical for the amount of people that use the hall and designated storage would provide a much needed update for hall users. It is the heart of our community.

Our Hall is the hub of the community especially now since the school closed. It is a wonderful place to bring our community together and share our gifts and talents. It is such a well used hall so upgrading these important areas is vital for the future and will make the events we have even more enjoyable.

Fantastic community, with this upgrade will get it closer to having facilities that meet today’s standards. It is the heartbeat of the community, and gives the younger generation a place to grow , learn and prosper through sport and other community events.

Good luck, great local community and a great project. The Meerlieu cricket club, one of the users of these facilities is reliant on people travelling from Bairnsdale, Sale/Maffra etc to both play with and against cricket. Being able to have a shower after play on a hot day will allow players to refresh themselves before driving home which also makes it a safety positive. Sporting communities in country towns are the backbone of the community and this is a prime example! Also I have memories of the best afternoon tea's, lovely scones!

Very worthwhile project for a community asset that is well utilised and appreciated by the wide community.
