We want single Mums to know that they are important and valued in our community. Each school term, we will bring together a new group of up to fifteen Mums. Meeting for three hours, once per week, we will gather to talk, meditate, exercise and eat together. Group fitness classes, mindfulness training, child minding and morning tea will be provided free of charge. A trained facilitator and meditation teacher (single Mum) will lead each group; creating a safe, confidential environment based on respect, kindness and acceptance where we can share openly, learn from each other and inspire each other .
These groups will give Mums time out. The chance for real and deep connection with other parents. An opportunity to give, and receive, wisdom and support.
Each group will learn communication and mindfulness skills. After each term each group will be encouraged to keep meeting and supporting each other to achieve their goals.
A young Indigenous woman will assist in the groups, helping to build capacity and community.
When Mums feel connected, supported and valued they have the energy to be the people they aim to be. Happier Mums means more happy and healthy kids growing up in our community.

This would be amazing I am a single mother and I am lucky to have family support but it is very difficult for people to understand how hard emotionally it is so to have a meditation group with people going through the same thing would be amazing I wouldn’t feel so isolated to home

A wonderful idea suggested by Wendy. It is a challenge coping with a growing family without a partner to help.
A level of support for single parents to help them raise stable children. Funding would give them a chance to experience something they would probably not be able to afford as money is usually tight in a one parent home.

Thanks so much for your support and kind words. It means a lot to me. I was a single Mum with young kids and I longed for something like this project. That's why it's very dear to my heart. If we get this funding Mums can attend for free! So important when you have limited income.
Really amazing project and definitely needed in our area, as a single mother on a very low income I’m excited for this project.
A wonderful idea, I know so many single mums that would greatly benefit from Wendy’s beautiful calming knowledge on this subject. Once the Mums are coping better we will see many more children growing up in the Shepparton area that are stable, calm and strong family and community members of the future.
The funding for this project is truly needed.

Meditation is a good way to take some time for your self and help with mental health. Happy Mothers, happy kids, happy families, happy communities.
