Mature Age Employment Program called GreyHub Banyule

The GreyHub Employment Project provides mature aged participants with skills, confidence and resources to create income via a structured, supportive framework.

The mature aged unemployed take 80 weeks on average to find full-time work. With the mature-aged now living longer, many will be forced to start generating their own income to maintain a basic lifestyle. But if all they’ve ever experienced is waged employment, how do they start generating income?

In recent years Banyule has experienced significant job losses across professional, scientific & technical services, manufacturing, education and construction industries. Unfortunately, resulting in many mature aged workers experiencing retrenchment.

GreyHub Banyule will be a community resource for mature aged people to explore career options by learning to self-generate income. It offers skills assessment, training and mentoring. Importantly, it will provide access to local work opportunities.

Banyule City Council will support GreyHub by helping to identify individuals to benefit from this initiative. In particular, focusing on the areas of Heidelberg West, Watsonia and Bundoora where there’s higher than average unemployment.
