Maryborough Synthetic Oval Lighting Project

Maryborough Education Centre has a joint use synthetic oval that if lit can be fully utilised by the school and the community for after hours training, practice and scheduled games across a number of sports. The site would be ideal for night activities across the year ranging from outdoor cinema to recreational activities for community groups. While the facility is used during school hours the community and school representative teams are losing the opportunity to gain the full benefits possible from such a magnificent venue.

The community has no other synthetic surface for multi use and by being able to fully utilise the venue sports that are impacted by inclement weather conditions can take advantage of the venue. The Central Goldfields Shire has suffered in the past with severe drought conditions and with water restrictions most grounds are unable to be used. Local sports can have the opportunity of using the venue for night training and competition with the lighting allowing additional time for competition or training.
