Maltese Movie Festival

The St Albans Melita Band aims to foster the Maltese Culture through different art mediums to capture a variety of audiences in Victoria. As part of doing this, the St Albans Melita band wishes to host a Maltese Movie Festival for the Victorian Community. Different movies and stories will be screened (with subtitles) for the community to watch in order for Victoria to embrace the Maltese culture. The Maltese Community migrated to Australia in the 50's and 60's and have established themselves as a community that contributed to Victoria's growth post WW2.

It is important for the Victorian community to celebrate the established cultures of Victoria in order to give hope to emerging cultures. In a time when emerging communities receive negative press and stereotypes, it is aimed at reflecting on an established community like the Maltese who can encourage Maltese community members to mentor leaders in emerging communities. This can happen through the use of arts and culture as it is a positive experience for all and an ability to generate further positive discussion.
