Mt Noorat is a prominent Scoria Cone rising behind the township of Noorat and is the community’s most cherished asset. Spectacular views across the Victorian Volcanic Plain can be enjoyed from its summit. The Noorat community has expressed their wish to have the informal walking tracks upgraded, new tracks designed and new infrastructure installed as a priority project for the area. Developing the walking track will ensure the Noorat Community and all visitors to the Mount have the ability to experience the site in their own way and can safely navigate this remarkable dormant volcano.
Upgrading the informal walking track and installing new associated infrastructure is a priority of the Noorat Community Plan and supported by the Noorat Progress Association. This project will stimulate further interest in the Noorat region, creating flow-on benefits to the local economy. Prior to implementing the project a community consultative process will take place and strategic trails identified in a formal plan; this will set the scope, themes and deliverables for the trails network across the Mount. This process will ensure that development of the track and its infrastructure will be developed in the best interests of the Noorat community.

Great community project.
Beaut idea - climbing this volcano last year was a highlight of my district tour with the International Dendrology Society - great district views, dramatic internal crater - in short: superb. Making that climb and descent a tad easier for all abilities would have to be a no-brainer, and a great project worth supporting. Go for it.
As a member of a walking group we walk up Mt Noorat 3 to 4 times a week. Best walk only to be rewarded with the best views in Western Victoria. Any improvement would be greatly appreciated to share this wonderful asset with the community.
solitude and splendour
This is a fantastic walk and provides a unique view of our local district. An upgrade to the walking tracks would help increase access for everyone.
A great spot to spend time with natural beauty
Absolutely the best walk in SW Vic. Track work needed to appreciate the wonderful views across the volcanic area. Mt Noorat is the rarest of the rare - a dry round cone - and well worth spending time exploring, watch for the wedgetail eagle nest while you are there.
Would love to see this as a major drawcard for visitors to the area. It's a spectacular view and a naturally beautiful attraction.
I have always enjoyed Mount Noorat, and know that these improvements to the site will improve the experience for locals and visitors alike. Best of luck Noorat!

Exhilarating not excrutiating climb , up to where the eagles soar.
Improvements would make it even more apealing and doable
