Rye beach foreshore is a popular picnic and recreational spot, used by people of all ages and cultural backgrounds. Birthday parties, picnics, celebrations and major events are all held there. The community-built playground adds to the attraction.
The 1980s seating and picnic facilities are ugly, uncomfortable and don’t cater for people of all mobility abilities. The worn-out facilities detract from the beautiful Bay beach setting.
Installing, contemporary, universal-design picnic tables, bench seats (near the playground & along the Bay Trail) and a wheelchair accessible bubbler will provide a more welcoming recreation venue for adults and children of all mobility abilities.

Anecdotal evidence and a community survey strongly indicate modernisation of the picnic facilities is a priority. Its functionality is only suited to the youngish and able-bodied.
The out-of-date design of the picnic tables means they are difficult to sit at. The one wheelchair accessible table is flawed. There is no bench seating at key points outside the Playground area or at key Bay vista sites. There are no all-accessible bubblers.
The installation of contemporary universal design facilities will bring the foreshore into the 21st century and ensure everyone can enjoy this beautiful space, regardless of their mobility ability.

Rye has largely been forgotten in reference to facilities available to locals and the large number of visitors that use the foreshore. There should be ample amenities available for a diverse range of users but Rye has been forgotten in the past and it is time an important upgrade to the foreshore area is achieved.

Rye foreshore would really benefit from an upgrade, all residents would use the foreshore much more!

An update to the current facilities would greatly benefit the foreshore!

I think the Rye foreshore would greatly benefit from improved picnic seating.

The current facilities must be upgraded. There is minimum seating for parents near the playground. Rye seems to get left out in regard to upgrades generally. This project would definitely enhance the Rye foreshore and be a real asset for not only tourists but for the local community as well.

RYE foreshore has been a backwater of development for years. Only brightspot is the playground ( a community development) around which is minimal antiquated seating. Plus seating is needed on the foreshore walk. Please bring RYE foreshore into the 21st century with at least some modern seating. The new boardwalk ( which will be covered in wind blown sand in no time) will not answer the current lack of modern seating.

Seeing as we utilise this area every week it would be nice to see the upgrades for locals and visitors alike.

The Rye foreshore is a prime recreational precinct, and perhaps Rye's greatest asset.
I urge those determining the Grants to consider this furniture, especially in the light of our disabled and physically challenged members.
Furniture that allows easy access, and can also accommodate others to enjoy purpose built and well constructed facilities.

Seeing all the tables match and not looking like we had hand me downs, would lift the profile and respect of the Rye Foreshore, which is long overdue. Thank you for taking the initiative to recognise this need and to acquire furniture that is friendly to all beach users. You have my vote

The Friday Club Rye would use this area more if it had better tables, chairs etc.

Please let us get some great and fitting furniture for our beautiful foreshore. We have for many years endured poor quality furniture and sub standard infrastructure on our foreshore. Hope we are able to get the results this time.

Well done Michelle and it seems obvious that the area has to be made safer by providing a more versatile design to the seating and resting area of our foreshore.

We need to do more to improve arrangements for ordinary locals to enjoy the beach and Bay views as compared with outsiders coming in to use the facilities

The bike and walk trail needs bench seats, I notice a number of people with mobility walkers and they need to stop and rest these seats would make a difference to stop and relax. And the picnic tables are overdue for replacement. Lets keep the foreshore looking good.

rye foreshore desperately needs an upgrade and greenery plan as it has lost so many trees and bushes the sand is blowing all over the township. time for a total makeover

This area is used by locals and visitors alike. Local school groups, kindergartens, and community groups all spend time in this sadly neglected space. It certainly needs an upgrade to make it an appealing area in which to spend time.

This is long overdue. The current facilities are extremely old and worn out. There is minimum seating for parents near the playground. The current facilities are a disgrace, especially compared to those elsewhere. Rye seems to get left out in regard to upgrades generally. This project would definitely enhance the Rye foreshore and be be a real asset for not only tourists but for the local community as well.
