Make Camperdown Plastic Bag Free

The introduction of fabric bags to businesses and community members that will not only lead to the elimination of single use plastic bags but also promote our town. A competition will be ran locally for a unique design to be screen-printed on the bags. We will also encourage a 'boomerang' concept with bag return stations at specific businesses where customers can return and reuse the bags. The bags will be printed by a local community group that supports adults with disabilities. These bags will be walking advertisement for our community and encourage people to shop local.

The main focus of this project will be to help businesses through the transition process of making Camperdown plastic bag free. For many small businesses the cost of alternative options such as paper or calico will be challenging at first so we want to help by providing all businesses with 100 fabric bags free of charge. Community members will then be encourage to use the bags throughout the entire town, from retail to supermarkets - one unified approached to eliminating the use of plastic bags and creating a more sustainable future for Camperdown!
