Macorna is a small township between Kerang and Pyramid Hill. Settlement was established from 1871 with a Post Office followed by a Hotel, grocery stores, butcher, saddler, blacksmith, butter factory, plus school, community hall and a football/netball ground that still operates today. In 1884 the railway arrived from Bendigo, Macorna was the last stop.
We propose a walking/running track through the Macorna township with informative stands located where these building once stood and a detailed undercover map with photos at entrance to Recreation Reserve to preserve this history.
The Community will also use track for health and fitness.

This project will benefit the local community by creating a walking/running track with outside gym fitness exercise equipment at each historical sight, that will be used by the Football/Netball Club as well as locals and visitors. Our local community will be able to ponder some of their stories of their early generations and for visitors to spend time through history and stories with family and friends and connect with each other.
The Macorna Landcare Group volunteer's will help plant trees and maintain this track with the help of the local sporting clubs.

What a great idea to revitalise a small community, that has so much past history that needs to be shared.
