With climate change starting to affect all areas of our lives we sometimes forget the most important part....children.
Pools are an important part of children's lives. They not only provide a place to keep cool in the sweltering weather and a place of play it also teaches them a variety of different things in all areas.
To provide a pool area they feel comfortable and confident in is extremely important, and although to some a slide at a pool may seem insignificant I would like to say it is a massive tool in the teaching of many skills. It will aid in physical ability, competence and confidence just to name a few.
So please don't ignore the value of such an import thing for both children and adults.

The Macarthur Swimming Pool committee with the support of the wider Macarthur District wish to replace the water slide and structure which was closed down by the council in March 2018. This is a very valuable asset owned by the community. The community are fundraising to have a slide for the next season. The current slide will be used to create a mold for the new slide. A hot dipped galvanized structure will be manufactured meeting strict guidelines. The slide is open to the whole community that come and swim at the pool. Users must show good water safety.
The water slide is one of the most valuable assets to the Macathur community. No other outdoor pool (within the shire or neighboring shire) has a slide. It brings families from a large district to the town. Children get to socialise with a wide group of children, form new friendships, encourage swimming, and use the slide. The children's confidence in and out of water is enhanced by having the slide. Children strive to be able to swim so they can go down the slide. Without the slide (since March 2018) our patronage dropped off. Macarthur needs a pool.

The slide is our kids' favourite thing about Macarthur pool (apart from the swimming teacher of course). It give the pool a point of difference and encourages extra people out from the larger towns.

This slide really is integral to our community, it has been a part of my children's lives and now my grandchildren, not just local to this community either. It also brings my family and their friends into our community. It has allowed and helped them all to grow in water confidence, courtesy, accepting rules and of course increasing friendships. A must have replacement.
