Castlemaine North Primary School is located in one of the most populated residential areas of Castlemaine. The grounds are available for community use outside of school hours. The only problem is no-one uses the oval as it is in terrible condition: muddy and hard in the winter, dry and hard in the summer ... all year round it's just plain hard! The project will turn the oval from an arid desert, to a green oasis with a synthetic Futsal sized soccer pitch, lovely green grass and portable soccer goals to complement the existing AFL goals ... something for everyone!

The school is situated in North Castlemaine, which is home to the 270 students along with many other families. The school community actively encourages community use of their facilities outside of school hours. There are no other public sports fields north of the adjacent highway, making the grounds a safe and accessible destination for children. A synthetic Futsal pitch will be the first of its kind in the Shire, perfect for local budding soccer players. This vision for an attractive, green space in a densely populated pocket will provide the community with space to exercise, connect and have fun!

Despite re-turfing (in last five years) and regular maintenance, the high traffic and multi-use nature of this space needs a better solution. The synthetic option will support lots of activities, ball sports, annual fete program, promote healthy active kids and is a great solution for Central Victoria's low rainfall. Time to fund this one.

Resourcing our children, especially for time outside is a priority I think.

C.N.P.S. and the surrounding community are desperate for an upgrade to their very sad looking oval so please pick our project!

Numerically this one makes sense!!! The oval and general grassed areas at this school are in terrible shape and not due to lack of trying. CNPS welcomes after hour use of their grounds and many adults and children use the basketball ground which is in much better condition. As someone who regularly walks a dog after school hours I notice very few children get out and about to play sport in an informal way. Some of this is due to lack of decent surfaces to play upon. A synthetic Futsal/multi use oval would definitely be used. Anything that would get kids and adults out of the house, off screens and interacting socially and actively!!!!

This would be a dream come true for so many children, to be able to play all year without fear of getting hurt and no more disappointment when told they can’t play today. Let’s see it happen. ⚽️🥅🏉🤸‍♀️

This is a must! Such great space for school use, and beyond into the community.
