Lulla’s is an inclusive family and children’s daycare operating in Shepparton and has been serving the community for over 35 years. It runs daycare, kindergarten classes, and programs that help parents promote their children’s health and safety, which is Lulla's top priority.
Many Aboriginal children suffer from poor health and development, and it is important for Aboriginal parents to feel supported in promoting their children’s health. Lulla's plans to:
1. form support groups for parents whose children have complex needs;
2. hold annual check-up days for infants, preschoolers, and school children;
3. organise group information sessions with health professionals.
Through Lulla's health program —
1. community families will get access to health check-ups and assessments, immunisations, and specialist health services that they otherwise cannot access due to time and/or transportation constraints;
2. parents of children with complex needs (e.g., autism spectrum disorder) will be supported with information on their children’s conditions, and the services and organisations that can help them;
3. parents can join a support group with other parents sharing the same experiences who can support and encourage one another, lessening their isolation;
4. parents get opportunities to meet and learn directly from health speakers, specialists, and professionals.
