We scan photographs and then film an interview with seniors to create a 10 x 10 minute films creating a "snapshot" of their lives. The films are designed as a personal visual document for their families and creates a record of these people and a history of local community, capturing stories that might otherwise be lost. The process itself encourages memory acting as a therapeutic process. The films also aid in creating empathy and understanding within the community about the lives of seniors who often seem forgotten. The films would be used in exhibitions and online encouraging awareness around ageing.
Improving mental health and well being for the elderly. The process of making the films engages the subjects in memory and acts as a powerful therapeutic process for those suffering dementia, loneliness and social isolation.
The broader social value in documenting the lives of people that have helped build Australia (many have no digital footprint) and capturing and celebrating their lives is, creating a greater empathy and understanding between young and the elderly. It strengthens ties in our community and develops more respect encouraging assistance, volunteer work , empathy and interaction.

There’s some great stories to be heard
A great Idea.
I love this idea! I wish it was available prior to my dad passing, what a beautiful way to capture a story and leave a legacy!
This is a great initiative. I would be happy to see it happen all over Australia. Our elderly citizens have such great stories to tell, and they could be lost without the tales being told.
Thanks Sue. Please feel free to share the idea. Anyone who identifies as part of the community around Belgrave through to Emerald can vote. Thanks again Jamie

What a fabulous idea! I hope we will be able to watch these films and learn their stories. Good luck.
