LIVE-ARTS PLATFORM by Carlton housing estate residents

Carlton public housing estate residents want to come together to support each other and bring joy into our lives. A cleverly adapted donated shipping-container platform will create a safe public space for a summer program of live arts activities for residents to express themselves and learn about each other. Residents will be hosts, performers, participants and audience, showing ourselves and others, what we can do. Local artists and organisations are invited to join us. We plan for LiveArts Platform to travel to other housing estates in the future, creating networks of estate residents developing and sharing new art and

Living at Carlton public housing estate can be socially isolating. Some are refugees and migrants establishing themselves in a new country. Many people are bored and sometimes feel unsafe in public. There is a lot of talent in the community but we need opportunities to share and develop them on our estate. With the support of our project partners, LiveArts Platform will develop our communities shared creativity and make employment opportunities for us doing what we love, as well as getting skills in event and community management. We will build confidence in disenfranchised communities to participate more in public life.
