Did you know the movies Mad Max, The Dressmaker and Ned Kelly were all filmed in Little River? This gorgeous town is the movie set of choice for so many movie and TV shows (Man From Snowy River was shot here) as well as being the namesake to THE Little River Band, let’s celebrate that point of difference on our water tower! Joining the push to paint community silos and towers we have a real point of difference that both tourists and locals will recognise. I propose we paint our tower with a 'filmic theme' to really stand out.
This project will unite the community with its image choice, but also be a tourism drawcard. Having spoken to Gavin Blinman of the Yarriambiack Shire Council which is aligned with the Silo Art Trail, business for the food outlets is up 30-40%, where 200 people would wander through town a week, mainly locals, it's now 1000 mainly tourists. You have enormous pride in the history of your town, other murals are painted around the town during the 'down time' of the artist. So apart from town pride, there's a tourism drawcard aligned with our rural landscape and beloved You Yangs.

This is a great idea, I have seen similar art installations in regional towns and they are both visually spectacular and create another reason for visitors to stop by and enjoy Little River. This has my vote.

This is a fantastic idea for our township and our region. We have a rich history of filming in this area, not only films but TV series too. This definitely gets my vote and support.
