This project is to purchase a statue of a snapper created using recycled plastic from a local artist, similar to the picture attached of the pelican statue from San Remo.
This will be to create awareness of plastic pollution and littering in Patterson River and our marine environment.
The funding will also be used to purchase waste collection equipment to do litter surveys throughout the year with volunteers and education groups, signage to tell people what the snapper is there for and brochures to share information about reducing plastic.

Through litter surveys, signage and the statues presence at the busiest boat ramp in Victoria, we expect to see a reduction in plastic pollution in the local environment. The statue will be used for everyone to learn about the impacts of plastic pollution.
Plastic pollution is increasing in our marine environment causing irreversible effects and this program will increase awareness to reduce the impact in the local area and leading into Port Phillip.
