To ensure a range of small and large communities had the opportunity to be part of Pick My Project, no more than 50 per cent of a regional partnership areas funding was awarded to one local government area (LGA). As a result this project was unsuccessful.

The area is used widely by the community for many activities including walking, cycling, picnics and fishing, the project will engage through running events to re-establish saltmarsh vegetation along the banks of the lagoon. Assisting the community to learn about the environmental values of the site, including the many international migratory birds, native plants and importance of the lagoon. The current area to be revegetated will continue to reduce weed load at the site and assist with the natural regeneration of saltmarsh species.

This site has been overtaken by weeds and weed grasses as it is a major walking track in this area that is well used by the local community. It is an eyesore and I believe preparing the site and engaging the community in a planting event will bring focus to this beautiful, yet overgrown gem, which is in desperate need of more native plants to provide food and shelter for migratory birds, as well as local fauna. In doing so, bringing in more species for bird watchers, as well as walkers and cyclists alike.

We need to restore this area to its natural habitat, and will provide much needed visual and environmental boost to one of the major entrances to the Bellarine.

The natural habitat around Geelong has dwindled to almost non-existent. The Brisbane Ranges are no longer viable. Let's try to save/regenerate as much as we can.

It's vital that we protect our environment. A good project for an area which needs support.

Protecting the environment is important to both humans and animals. On completion it will be visually pleasing and gratifying to see both bird life and native wildlife return in numbers to the area.
