The communities of Traralgon South, Callignee and Koornalla are approximately 15km south of Traralgon, and the tennis/netball courts are the only such facility in our area. The project is to install low power use LED lighting to the courts to enable club competition, extended access for training and public access for the courts. The courts are used by the tennis club, local primary school and general public and are a pivotal facility for our community. Upon project completion the courts will not be restricted to daylight hours only, so practice and competition can be extended into more convenient times.

We are promoting a more healthy and active environment to the general community and our school kids by making available a public hardcourt sporting facility that can be used at night and be within a short distance of their homes. Increasing the hardcourt availability and minimising the transportation difficulties of the local facility is the first step in increasing participation numbers. Then promoting a variety of organised night fun activities such as Roll Up Faster Tennis and local mother daughter netball competitions is a great start for the community to socialise and increase their health and wellbeing.

What a well overdue requirement. Lights to light up the bush darkness in an isolated rural community whilst playing evening sport for fun health and fitness activities..
Multipurpose for Tennis of all ages , Netball, Junior cricket, Primary School & Community Emergency Evacuation Assembly area/ point.( Already used in 2009 Bushfires).

Adding lights would be increase the benefits of people's health and physical environment to the Traralgon South. I'm definitely up for this idea and hope to see many people come out and play sports even it's night time!

Projects like this that increase the utilisation of existing facilities, provide huge value and opportunities for a community to increase engagement and participation. Particularly when utilisation can be extended into non-traditional times and capture new participants.

This is a great idea, local residents would really benefit from being able to use the courts of a summer's evening.

Great idea. Traralgon Sth and district have a great community of tennis players of all ages and skills. Lighting would go a long way to increasing the potential of the courts to cater for everyone all year round.

This tennis club encourages people of all ages to participate in a friendly, social game of tennis. Adding lighting to the courts gives the advantage of opening up the sport to those busy families that have more than one sporting commitment on the weekends.

The social side of sport is the backbone of small rural clubs. Lighting would allow the courts to be accessible for a much longer period of time, especially in winter and encourages community members of all ages and abilities to become involved. Great for sport, great for community wellbeing all year round.
