Current lighting is over 50 years old, is dangerous and globes are now impossible to replace. The club runs regular social bowls events throughout the year for our members (currently we have 200) and tournaments which attract bowlers from neighbouring clubs, and from Victoria and interstate. Many of these occur in summer and are held at night as well as during the day. We are especially keen to hold twilight barefoot events in the future to attract new bowlers. This is challenging as we are competing for new bowlers with a large neighbouring club which has poker machines.

Bowls is a sport that people of all ages can play. The City of Echuca Bowls Club is the host club of the Campaspe Cannons Under 18 Development Squad and regularly has players of all ages playing and socializing at our club. Our oldest member who still plays is 105! In addition to bowling activities we host various local organizations who like to use our facilities. Having reliable, effective and safe lighting over two of our four greens enables us to combine bowling opportunities at these functions as well as for pennant and more serious bowling events.

The exiting lighting is now obsolete and expensive to use. The new lighting would improve the facilities at the club.

Twilight bowls and bare foot bowls are great it gets younger people interested.
Community’s need to move with the times especially when having to compete against bigger facilities that are supported by gambling just over the river in another state.
Council should be funding the new lights without hesitation and support their community sports to expand.

A worthy community project. Considering the number of visiting bowlers and tourists that this wonderful, friendly club attracts, it would be wonderful to be able to do offer our facilities over a longer period of time and in a safe environment. For a club that does not have gambling facilities as other nearby clubs do, funding constraints make it harder to improve our facilities as we wish to do. Please support this wonderful club. COME & TRY BOWLS :)

Good luck. This is an important project as new lights will make the facilities more accessible and enable evening events to take place

This is a priority for me as I feel that the all our community need better infrastructure to assist them in staying active for longer in a safe and stimulating environment.
