It can be difficult navigating the park at night due to insufficient lighting. At the moment there is lighting at the three amenity buildings and five street lights throughout the whole park, which unfortunately due to the age of the lights they are prone to failure. To make the park safer, eco-friendly and user friendly for the community the lights need to be replaced with a proposed additional 25 solar street lights and further solar path bollards positioned throughout the park. We want to make our community park a safer secure welcoming place for everyone to visit and enjoy.

The project will benefit the community by providing a safe navigation of the park at night. I constantly hear comments form patrons specially the aging and disabled community members who enjoy frequenting the park, commenting they are having difficulties navigating the park at night, saying it would be great if there was better lighting to see along the roads and pathways. Also, we have had numerous comments from the many keen fishermen who have said, “When we come in at night we need lighting at the boat ramp to make it safer to load and tie down our boats”.

I have visited the park on a number of occasions and am impressed with the work the Committee of management have completed so far since saving the park from closure in 2014. They do need the funding for more lighting throughout the park because it is very dark at night which is a hazard for everyone.

White Light, the key to security.... white light is good.

Currently we have minimal lighting throughout the park making it extremely dangerous for people who stay there to navigate going to the toilet at night, especially the elderly. The lights we have are very old and would be using a lot of electricity so it would be beneficial to the environment and more cost effective to the club if we were to upgrade the lighting to Solar. The boat ramp currently has no lighting whatsoever making it difficult for fishermen/women to retrieve their boats if they stay out fishing after dark.

Where we camp there is no lighting at all. Moving around at night is dangerous and particularly for senior campers.

The park is very dark and dangerous to walk around at night, particularly as the roads have been in need of repair for decades.
