Due to the degradation of our current lighting setup, SOBC can no longer host bowling in the evenings for social bowls, night pennant, and community or private functions.
New LED lighting that meets bowling standards will ensure the club can:
- Participate in night pennant bowling, a great way to introduce new bowlers to the sport
- Provide community groups and social bowlers greater flexibility when hosting events at the club
- Provide additional lighting during winter for social bows, when a number of bowling clubs stay closed due to poor lighting availability

This project will benefit the community by providing a facility to use our greens for bowling in the evenings or when visibility is low. Providing flexibility to bowl outside of daylight hours gives groups or individuals the opportunity to keep active and take up an inclusive team sport in summer evenings or on dark winters days. With a large number of private and community groups using the club facilities, LED lighting means the club can provide service outside of the usual bowling season from October-March. It provides bowlers from any club the opportunity to play night bowls.

Please give SOBC $34000 so they can have new lights so my Hubby can bowl to his hearts content. Night bowling will also hopefully encourage the young people to take part which will make the club grow. Young Blood is what the club needs to help it move into the future. Grants for sporting facilities should be top priority as Obesity is a growing expensive concern. Get people moving.... a lot of kilometers are covered in a game of bowls... wear a fit bit and find out !!!

New lights would be fantastic as it makes better use of a community venue especially for the elderly to keep them fit and active. Physical activity helps keep down medical costs and is good for the mind. soul and socialisation. Bowling should be encouraged by the Government to keep local clubs alive and happening into the future. Also lights might encourage the young to come out and take part. Top Priority !!!!

New lights would be an asset for night barefoot bowling, evening functions and night pennant It would provide longer hours for the greens to be used by the community.

The club looks fantastic under lights, or it used to. New lighting will make for a great atmosphere for barefoot bowls in Summer. I hope they can get it.
