‘Learn Support Lead: Activating female leaders in sport’ is a 12 month female leadership program designed to activate the untapped skills and experience of local Wodonga and Towong Shire women on and off the field. It includes two groups of women – emerging leaders, and established leaders who will act as mentors. The program guides participants through a series of workshops on leadership topics to build confidence, understanding and networks - ultimately allowing them to unlock and realise their leadership potential as players, coaches, administrators or committee members - and in other roles within their club.
'Learn Support Lead' aims to increase the strength of sporting clubs in the Wodonga and Towong Shire regions through growing the number of women confidently taking on formal and informal leadership roles in their sporting clubs.
Sporting clubs will benefit from the additional and more diverse leadership skills of its members and being able to provide a more inclusive environment. Their younger members will be exposed to more females in leadership roles and a much wider range of leadership approaches. In the longer term there will be more females taking on leadership roles and actively contributing to their communities.
