An advisory group would be formed that includes Elders and key Aboriginal community members to support a workshop program and the development of a design brief. The design brief will be distributed to Aboriginal artists with an artist fee awarded to the selected artists/ teams . The large ground artwork will weave throughout the Seaworks site and be painted by community and school groups under the leadership of the artist. The site requires prep work prior to the community commencing the artwork.

Part of the development of the artwork will include cultural education that is led by Aboriginal leaders and knowledge keepers through a workshop program. This aspect of the commission will ensure that local schools are exposed to the deep layers of place and learn about Country and First Nations history. Underneath the concrete and maritime history of Seaworks, the landscape and bay was an abundant hunting ground, rich in a cultural narrative. This artwork will be a strong message of Reconciliation and the creation of the work will be done in partnership with the local community.

Brilliant idea - a great way to acknowledge the original owners of the land on our community, as well as educate and engage young people around indigenous culture.
