Instead of the tent in the photo, the community will have access to a permanent raised deck with a roof. A sliding door through to the clubrooms will make this an inviting and functional entrance and exit. The deck will be flexible, however a shaded area to eat and socialize for all community members including Lara Swimming Club members is the intention. This will be in partnership with the City of Greater Geelong Healthy eating canteen. The deck will overlook the Lara Pool and it will be an opportunity for groups to utilize and easily recognize the clubrooms.
At present there is nowhere for the community to eat at a table in shade. It will encourage the community to eat healthy at the canteen and then follow our club sun smart policy and access an area to eat out of the sun. The community will be more aware of the benefits that the Lara Swimming Club have to offer and therefore encourage a low socio economic demographic to be excited to pursue a healthy lifestyle.

Very much needed for encouraging and supporting healthy lifestyles of our young people. Suitable infrastructure is vital to improve the experience.
I attend Lara swimming pool with my grandchildren over the summer period and support this project to encourage more chilfren to learn to swim.

Lara pool has been serving the community before I took my first swimming lessons over 50 years ago. A very community minded project aimed at skin cancer prevention and healthy eating.
