To ensure a range of small and large communities had the opportunity to be part of Pick My Project, no more than 50 per cent of a regional partnership areas funding was awarded to one local government area (LGA). As a result this project was unsuccessful.

Lake Pertobe is one of Warrnambool's most loved places for residents and visitors alike. The new North Entry Pavilion - inspired by concepts designed by RMIT Architecture students with the community - will encourage visitors to enter Lake Pertobe from the north (i.e. the CBD), create a spectacular new place overlooking the lake and foreshore, and better connect Warrnambool's CBD to the coast. The Pavilion will create a sense of arrival; a place to enjoy the view, learn about Aboriginal culture and significant places, sit and reflect, or simply pass through when entering Warrnambool's famous adventure playground and favourite park.

The northern side of Lake Pertobe lacks a sense of arrival and a vantage point to give visitors a sense of what lies ahead.

The Hopkins Bridge-inspired lookout will create an opportunity for people to orient themselves overlooking the foreshore.

The totem features play an important role in situating the new entry point in the landscape and acknowledging local indigenous culture and significant places.

The local basalt platform ties the lookout and totem elements together, creating a place to pause, enjoy the views and a much-needed spot for CBD workers and students to enjoy their breaks outdoors.

Good idea but could I suggest this be incorporated into a cross over at the Railway Station, giving pedestrian access to the walking path to Lady Bay immediately south of the station. Visitors could get straight off the train, go through the Northern Entry Pavilion, then walk along the path to the BackPackers, Caravan Parks, Lady Bay, and the Pavilion/Breakwater. I often see visitors trudging along Harris Street headed for these destinations, hardly an inspiring walk as an introduction to Warrnambool
